BetterTrades coach Ryan Litchfield understands that newcomers can be overwhelmed by the speed and intensity of the stock market. Ryan, known at BetterTrades as the staff's "Mind Coach," believes traders must adopt the proper psychological attitude before they can become successful. Failure to do so can cause an ill-equipped person to easily lose a lot of money. Ryan wants to make sure that doesn't happen to one of his students.
Ryan believes a trader must cultivate the proper mindset to be successful. Ryan has developed a system of bracket trading that allows an investor to look at a potential trade after the market is closed, set up a series of targets, and place the trade for the next day. At that point Ryan says the most important thing is to get out of the way and let the trade run its course. It's part of his formula to be calm, confident, consistent and profitable.
Ryan wants to help students build a bridge from their current knowledge base to a level of skill that makes them capable of profitably trading in the stock market. Ryan disagrees with the popular theory that knowledge is power or that education is the answer. Ryan believes it is important to be able to use what you learn. He trains for skill.
"In the end the only thing that counts is what you can do," Ryan says. "You can read all the books in the world about swimming, but the only way to learn is to jump in the pool and get wet."
After preparing students to be mentally ready for stock market trading, Ryan teaches proper chart analysis, how to use stops, how to read candlesticks, and how to use technical indicators. Ryan encourages his students to attend his "Traders Forge" class, which accelerates their growth by putting them through 10 months of simulated trading in two days. Students learn how to set up trades with Ryan's "if-then" method that allows them to cover any situation that might occur.
"It's all about survivability," Ryan says. "You can't beat the market. You can't outmuscle the market. But you can out-step it and you can learn to blend in with it."
Ryan seeks a 100-percent success rate with his students. His twice-weekly subscription-based "Traders Talk" gives him a chance to stay connected to his students, answer questions, and help the maturation process. And for students who want to take their skills to the next level, Ryan offers an "Advanced Traders Forge" and "Advanced Traders Talk."
